Summary
SUMMARY:
The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for providing guidance, direction, and assistance in connection with a wide variety of legal and regulatory matters to and on behalf of the Company and its subsidiaries. The Associate General Counsel may support the internal Human Resources (HR) group, among other areas of the business; therefore, experience in HR risk mitigation, employment handbook and policies, etc. would be beneficial.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise the Company and its subsidiaries on a broad array of legal and regulatory matters.
- Effectively collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams throughout the organization.
- Advise internal clients on business decisions and help mitigate associated legal risks.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts on behalf of the Company and its subsidiaries, including provider / physician agreements and commercial contracts.
- Advise on employee relations issues and assist with internal investigations.
- Identify regulatory concerns and, in partnership with internal partners and external counsel as needed, ensure compliance with fraud and abuse laws and regulations.
- Represent and advocate for the Company and its subsidiaries in dealings with third parties in business ventures and corporate transactions.
- Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory developments affecting the healthcare industry. Provide real-time legal assistance to internal clients (including participating in an on-call rotation after appropriate training).
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience required practicing as an attorney; top law firm training preferably followed by in-house experience; some healthcare law experience preferred.
- JD from a top tier law school.
- Admission to at least one state bar. Eligible for Maryland bar admission.
