Experience:

• 3 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Required Skills/Experience: Teaching hospital experience is required. Should be competent in all forms of complex echo pathology, including HOCM, assessment of regional wall motion abnormalities, aortic stenosis, and other valvular defects. Familiarity with strain imaging is needed.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Left-handed scanning preferred. Transplant hospital experience preferred.

Required Credentials: Certification required; either CCI or RDCS-Adult is accepted.

Special Requests: No time off requests during the first week of the contract.

Unit Details: Adult patient population. Typical cases include advanced cardiovascular disease, heart transplant, structural heart, and infiltrative diseases. TAVR, LVAD, Impella, and balloon pump cases are often imaged. Daily assignments could include a combination of inpatient and outpatient work, bedside echo, stress echo, TEE, or OR. The work includes evaluation of shunts and saline contrast administration. Sonographer-driven contrast administration protocols use Lumify and Definity. Productivity requirements are 6-8 studies in an 8-hour day or 8-9 studies in a 10-hour day. The sonographer is required to submit a detailed preliminary report for the Cardiology attendings, who finalize the studies. The report includes a global assessment of cardiac status obtained from the echo exam, incorporating numerical values associated with dimensional and flow data. The lab uses Philips IntelliSpace Cardiovascular (ISCV), formerly known as Xcelera.

Shift & Scheduling: Shift lengths may be 8 or 10 hours, depending upon need and assignments. 10-hour shifts start at 0600 or 0700; 8-hour shifts start at 0700, 0800, and 0830. Start times may vary by assignment, department needs, or location (Main Campus or outlying Cardiology clinic). Call required: 1-2 weeks per 13 weeks. Two weekends of call in 13 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Float to outpatient clinic. Assignments are at the Main Campus (inpatient/outpatients) and the Stony Point location (clinic/outpatients), which is located in the same pavilion as the main medical center.
