Summary

Surgical Tech (Operating Room Technologist) –

The Operating Room Technologist (ORT) functions as a scrub tech in surgical procedures, ensuring sterile instruments and supplies are prepared and maintained throughout operations. Responsibilities include supporting surgeons during procedures, anticipating surgical team needs, maintaining strict aseptic technique, handling instruments efficiently, and following hospital policies along with AORN standards to promote patient safety. The ORT also manages instrument decontamination and proper equipment care after procedures while communicating important patient or procedural information to the surgical team. The role reports to the Clinical Manager of Surgical Services and supports Carroll Hospital’s mission and SPIRIT values.

Requirements

  • Preferred: High school diploma
  • Required: 1–3 years of healthcare experience with sterile technique knowledge
  • CPR certification (AHA Healthcare Provider)
  • CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification required
