JOB SUMMARY:
Prepares hot food for patients, staff and visitors following standardized recipes in accordance with departmental standards. Care is taken to take into account individual needs based on age, textural requirements, allergies and additional special considerations as they arise. Will be responsible for determining production needs based on census, catering events and other changes to patient or cafeteria food availability.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares hot and cold food for patients, cafeteria or catering according to departmental standards. Interprets and accurately prepares production needs from the Food Production Sheets to minimize shortages or waste of food portions. Consistently follows standardized recipes in the food preparation process. Able to consistently apply food safety and sanitation standards and guidelines to work assignments. Checks food for compliance with sanitation and safety standards. Stores food and supplies according to departmental standards. Assures food is properly wrapped, labeled and dated. Performs cleaning activities according to departmental standards. Completes daily end-of-shift cleaning and restocking. Able to safely clean all production equipment, especially ovens, fryers, kettles and steamers. Completes daily pot and pan washing as assigned. Performs operator maintenance on equipment according to departmental standards. Notifies supervision of any problems or unusual issues. Identifies and promptly reports defective equipment in a timely manner to the supervisor and facilities department. Consistently participates in inventory control functions to ensure adequate food and supplies are available at all times. Able to utilize historical data, census and related information to adjust production. Acts as a caretaker of hospital resources. Utilizes leftovers creatively. Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service according to departmental standards. Utilizes proper channels of communication to resolve departmental issues. Communicates properly and clearly with production team and support staff. Maintains a neat, clean and safe work environment according to departmental standards.
