Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Critical Care Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers allowed with at least 2 years’ experience and Cerner or Epic experience. General Cardiac: vent care, hemodynamic monitoring, medication titrations, arterial line, IABP, Impella, EKOS, CRRT (PrismaFlex), chest tube, Swan-Ganz catheter, FloTrac monitoring, titratable drip management, hypothermia protocol. CVICU: Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, CRRT, medication titration, IABP, Impella, EKOS, vent management, Tandem Life/Tandem Lung. MICU: arterial lines, trach care, chest tubes, vasopressor use, sedation use, central lines. Neuro ICU: trach care/maintenance, arterial line, vent/ETT. Surgical ICU: trach care, arterial line, chest tube, wound care, drip management (pressors and sedation).

Preferred Skills/Experience: Neuro ICU: EVD and ICP monitoring can be taught. Surgical ICU: CRRT preferred.

Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). You may apply to both day shift and night shift on the same unit and facility, but not to another opening on the same shift for the same unit and facility. Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. RTO on the following 2026 dates requires approval: Martin Luther King Jr. Day 1/19; Valentine’s Day week 2/13 -15; entire month of March; Easter weekend 4/3 - 4/5; Mother’s Day weekend 5/8-10; Memorial Day week 5/23 – 5/25; Father’s Day weekend 6/19-21; Fourth of July 7/3-7/5; Labor Day weekend 9/5-9/7; Halloween 10/30-11/1; Thanksgiving 11/25-11/29; Christmas and New Year’s 12/18-1/1. Up to 7 days off can be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval.

Unit Details: Float pool may cover General Cardiac, CVICU, MICU, Neuro ICU, and Surgical ICU. General Cardiac patient types include STEMI, post heart cath with interventions, respiratory failure/ventilated, post cardiac arrest, post stroke care, renal failure, hypertensive emergency, sepsis, and other critical care needs. CVICU patient types include post-op CABG, valve cases, thoracotomies, V-A and V-V ECMO, post cardiac arrest, post heart cath, and post-op vascular surgery. MICU patient types include acute respiratory failure, acute renal failure, acute liver failure, DKA, sepsis/septic shock, and some post-surgical patients. Neuro ICU patient types include CVA, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), subdural hemorrhage (SDH), intraparenchymal hemorrhage (IPH), and seizures. Surgical ICU patient types include post-surgical, trauma, vascular, multisystem trauma, and neuro trauma patients. RNs are required to read and measure ICU telemetry strips. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; may work back-to-back weekends rarely. No call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Schedule cycle: 6 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).

7 days maximum time off.
