Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Critical Care Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of experience and Cerner or Epic experience.

Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. Up to 7 days off can be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval. Baptist 2026 blackout dates needing approval: Martin Luther King Jr. Day 1/19; Valentine’s Day week 2/13-15; entire month of March; Easter weekend 4/3-4/5; Mother’s Day weekend 5/8-10; Memorial Day week 5/23-5/25; Father’s Day weekend 6/19-21; Fourth of July 7/3-7/5; Labor Day weekend 9/5-9/7; Halloween 10/30-11/1; Thanksgiving 11/25-11/29; Christmas and New Year’s 12/18-1/1.

Unit Details: General Cardiac patient population includes STEMI, post heart cath with interventions, respiratory failure/ventilated, post cardiac arrest, post stroke care, renal failure, hypertensive emergency, sepsis, and critical care needs; unit skills and equipment include vent care, hemodynamic monitoring, medication titrations, arterial lines, IABP, Impella, EKOS, CRRT (PrismaFlex), chest tubes, Swan-Ganz catheters, FloTrac monitoring, titratable drip management, and hypothermia protocol. CVICU patient population includes post-op CABG, valve, thoracotomies, V-A and V-V ECMO, post cardiac arrest, post heart cath, post-op vascular surgery, and critical care; unit skills and equipment include Swan-Ganz catheters, arterial lines, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, CRRT, medication titration, IABP, Impella, EKOS, vent management, and Tandem Life/Tandem Lung. MICU patient population includes acute respiratory failure, acute renal failure, acute liver failure, DKA, sepsis/septic shock, and some post-surgical patients; unit skills and equipment include art lines, trach care, chest tubes, vasopressor usage, sedation usage, and central lines. Neuro ICU patient population includes CVA, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), subdural hemorrhage (SDH), intraparenchymal hemorrhage (IPH), and seizures; very busy unit with quick turnover. Unit skills and equipment include trach care/maintenance, art lines, vent/ETT, EVD, and ICP monitoring (can teach). Surgical ICU patient population includes post-surgical, trauma, vascular, multisystem trauma, and neuro trauma patients; unit skills and equipment include trach care, art lines, chest tubes, wound care, drip management (pressors and sedation), and CRRT. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors. Support includes CNA 1:10, charge nurse 1 per shift, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist coverage; no receptionist/HUC. RNs are required to read and measure ICU telemetry strips.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend; may work back-to-back weekends rarely. No call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Schedule cycle: 6 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Float to any like unit/patient location: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds.

7 days maximum time off.
