Experience:

• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

• Must have at least 22 months of Critical Care Float Pool experience.

• Travel experience is preferred from any number of months.

• Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Ohio license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <60 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Medical declinations accepted.

Previous Employment Requirements:

• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more

• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location

• References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

• IV therapy, Accessing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, PICC line management, Starting and maintaining IVs, Respiratory/Thoracic, Assist with management of BiPAP, Assist with management of CPAP, Care of Ventilated Patient, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs), Suctioning (ETT, NT), Ventilator Management, Genitourinary/Renal, Chronic/Acute Renal failure, Medications, Continuous IV sedation, Emergency Medications, Procedural Sedation Administration/Monitoring, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips, Cardiovascular, Post Cardiac Surgery (Not directly from the OR), Neurological, CVA/Acute Stroke management, Gastrointestinal, GI surgery, Professional Topics and Skills, Infection Prevention, Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE, Phlebotomy, Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Management of patient with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, Obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG, Endocrine/Metabolic, IV insulin protocols, Work Settings, Neuro Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Assist with Chest Tube Insertion/Removal, Continuous IV paralytics/Neuromuscular blockade, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, Sheath Removal, External ventricular drain (EVD), ICP monitoring, Lumbar drains, Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac.

Required Credentials:

• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.

• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Transplants - Kidney, Liver, Lung, Heart

Types of Patients on Unit: Adults

Equipment Used on Unit: Temp Pacer, EVD, CT, Vent

Shift & Scheduling:

• Day (07:00 - 19:30) Night (19:30 - 07:30); Rotating. Will be primarily PM but may rotate to AM in 4-week blocks if needed.

• Weekend Coverage: Every Other

• Number of Weekend Shifts Per Contract: Minimum of EOW

• No block scheduling.

Floating Requirements:

• Nurses will float to a variety of ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including: Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU / MICU / NCCU.

• Nurses are required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.

• Will be required to float to different units within the OSU organization.

7 days maximum time off

1 reference from last 3 years (Manager/Supervisor reference type) - required for submission

1 reference from last 3 years (Charge/Lead reference type) - required for submission

Proof of identification required

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
