Experience:

• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

• Must have at least 24 months of Critical Care Float Pool experience within the past 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is required from any number of months.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required from any number of months

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 12 months between Staff at Program: Vaya Workforce Solutions - University of Wisconsin Health

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Must have experience with multiple ICU units (Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, etc).
  • ICU experience with adult populations required.
  • Traveler must have experience in an Academic level 1 Trauma center.
  • Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years.
  • Telemetry Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start.
  • IV therapy, Accessing/Managing Ports, Arterial line management, Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, PICC line management, Starting and maintaining IVs, Respiratory/Thoracic, Assist with management of BiPAP, Assist with management of CPAP, Care of Ventilated Patient, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs), Pulmonary embolism, Respiratory failure, Suctioning (ETT, NT), Ventilator Management, Work Settings, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU), Medical Intensive Care Unit, Neuro Intensive Care Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Trauma Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular, Post Cardiac Surgery (Not directly from the OR), Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, Medications, Continuous IV paralytics/Neuromuscular blockade, Continuous IV sedation, Emergency Medications, Procedural Sedation Administration/Monitoring, Titrate Cardiac drips, Titrate Vasoactive drips, Neurological, CVA/Acute Stroke management, ICP monitoring, Lumbar drains, Post Neurosurgery management, Spinal cord injury, Traumatic Brain injury, Genitourinary/Renal, CVVHD/CRRT, Professional Topics and Skills, Infection Prevention, Isolation Precautions/PPE, Phlebotomy, Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, Management of dysrhythmias, Management of patient with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, Endocrine/Metabolic, IV insulin protocols, Burns

Preferred Skills/Experience: EPIC experience within the last 12 months preferred, Burn Intensive Care Unit, Care of the patient on ECMO, Central Venous Pressure Monitoring (CVP), ECMO, Impella, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/intervention, External ventricular drain (EVD), Post Craniotomy, Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac, Thermoregulation: hypothermia/hyperthermia, Teaching Hospital Experience, Previous Charge Experience

Required Credentials: Drivers License/State ID

  • Pass/Fail Testing required with strict passing criteria.

A telemetry exam will be required prior to start. The following criteria must be met in two attempts:

Adult Exam:

100% identification of lethal rhythms: Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole

No incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks [1 incorrect answer will cause failure]

Passing score of 80% or higher

Pediatric Exam

Ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia

Passing score of 80% or higher

Attempts: Traveler will have two attempts to pass. If the individual does not pass on the second attempt their contract may be cancelled. If the traveler fails the second attempt they will submit a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course to Vaya before a third attempt will be assigned. If the traveler does not pass after three attempts Vaya will notify recruitment of the results. Recruitment will notify the hiring manager that the traveler’s assignment will be cancelled.

Unit/Facility Details: Parking: Permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite

Shift & Scheduling:

  • Evening/Night, 8/12 hr shifts, 1900-07:30, with every other weekend and some holidays.

Floating Requirements: Travelers are the first. Must be willing to work with IMC/Progressive/General care populations as needed.

14 days maximum time off

1 reference from last 12 months (Manager/Supervisor reference type) - required for submission

1 reference from last 3 years (Any reference type) - required for submission

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)

• TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course)
