Schedule: Full-Time | Night Shift | 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Carroll Hospital, part of the LifeBridge Health system, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Critical Care Resource Nurse to join our team. This is a full-time night shift position focused on providing advanced, responsive care to high-acuity patients throughout the hospital. As a member of the Critical Outreach Team (COT), this nurse serves a critical role in supporting both patients and staff, especially during emergency events and in post-critical care transitions.
Collect, assess, and document patient health data while promoting patient privacy and dignity.
Apply the nursing process and principles of growth and development to all aspects of patient care.
Promote and maintain a safe clinical environment by adhering to Carroll Hospital Center (CHC) policies, The Joint Commission standards, and evidence-based practices (e.g., safe lifting procedures, infection prevention).
Monitor and respond to patient outcome variances; communicate critical values using read-back procedures.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure care plans are understood and implemented.
Support patient safety through consistent use of universal precautions, including hand hygiene and PPE.
Frequently round on patients recently downgraded from critical care, providing support and clinical oversight during transitions.
Administer medications safely and accurately, including medication reconciliation and use of smart pump technology.
Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving in all aspects of care.
Participate in hospital codes and rapid response events as part of the Critical Outreach Team; complete required follow-up evaluations per policy.
Lead or support efforts in patient flow, admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring seamless transitions and timely documentation.
Serve as preceptor and mentor, promoting professional growth among peers and enhancing the overall practice environment.
Observe and provide feedback on clinical competence and patient care priorities.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with the Quality Department and other hospital leadership teams.
Confirm presence of Advance Directives and assist in determining legal decision-makers when needed.
Current Maryland RN license or eligibility to obtain.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in ICU, Critical Care, or Emergency Department nursing.
Certifications (Required or with timeline to obtain):
Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
Acute/Critical Care Nursing (Adult) – Required
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – within 6 months of hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 18 months of hire
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within 6 months of hire
