As our Lead Dental Hygienist, you’ll work closely with practice leadership to establish strong clinical standards, create efficient workflows, support future team members, and help develop a hygiene department that both patients and team members are proud to be part of.
What You’ll Do
- Help develop efficient hygiene workflows, protocols, and scheduling standards
- Establish consistent clinical and periodontal care expectations
- Support the onboarding, training, and development of future hygiene team members in partnership with Regional and Sub-Regional Mentors
- Foster strong communication and collaboration between hygiene, doctors, and the business team
- Help strengthen patient retention, reappointment, treatment acceptance, and overall hygiene performance
- Identify opportunities to improve the patient experience and make day-to-day operations more effective
- Serve as a clinical leader, resource, and positive role model for the hygiene team
- Help create a culture built around Family, Quality, Integrity, Compassion, Teamwork, and Fun

Minimum Qualifications
- Current dental hygienist license in MN and an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene (where required)
- Excellent working knowledge of dentistry, dental hygiene procedures, dental patient screening and medical history documentation
- CPR Certification
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience
- Experience using Velscope, Diagnodent, digital scanner, digital x-rays and electronic medical record systems
- Desire to continue learning and grow clinical skills to meet needs of patients and provide preventative care and overall maintenance of patients’ dental health
- Clinical needs as required by office
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform essential duties as deemed necessary by the Office/ Doctor/ Heartland Dental with or without reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties of the position
- Prolonged periods sitting and standing
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds at times
- Availability to attend virtual training sessions (or in-person) periodically throughout the year
- As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for both team members and patients, a tuberculosis (TB) test is required for all new hires in dental office positions. This is a standard requirement for dental office roles and must be completed prior to starting employment. The test will be arranged during the pre-employment process, and any necessary guidance or paperwork will be provided. Not applicable in the state of FL & TN.
