MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated and visionary Nursing Director to lead our Level IIIB NICU at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. As a member of our Division of Nursing's (DON) leadership/management team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of patient care in this specialized field.

 

Position Overview

The Nursing Director is responsible for the leadership and management of the neonatal intensive care unit and intermediate care nursery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. This role offers the chance to create a practice environment that embodies the values of patient care and implements a patient and nursing care delivery system that prioritizes the patient's well-being. Unit Highlights

Our 36 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level III-B NICU. As a Level III-B NICU, we offer a high level of care for premature and ill newborns. With an annual average of 750 infant admissions, our nursing team has cared for a wide range of conditions including: extreme prematurity, gastroschises, myelomeningocele, diaphragmatic hernia and hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Our Special Mom Special Baby (SMSB) program supports a unique partnership between Obstetrics and Children’s National Medical Center. The obstetrical service provides coordinated, focused pregnancy care for mothers who themselves have congenital health issues or who are carrying babies with congenital issues. Our NICU nurses also attend high-risk deliveries to focus on the stabilization of critical infants. Our multidisciplinary team consists of neonatologists, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, nutritionists, and social workers.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Assume 24-hour administrative and leadership authority and responsibility for the management and direction of the NICU and IMC Nursery.
• Oversee the operational, personnel, and financial activities of the unit to ensure efficient and effective resource utilization.
• Direct and coordinate the activities of professional and support personnel within the unit.
• Collaborate with the nursing leadership team, Medical Staff, and leaders of other departments/disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and MedStar Health's mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Master's preferred)
• DC RN License
• Minimum of five years of nursing experience
• Two years of nursing leadership experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

This position has a hiring range of : USD $120,702.00 - USD $238,222.00 /Yr.
