More about the role:
As an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) at a Heartland Dental supported office, you will organize and maintain lab equipment, take and develop X-rays and provide comprehensive post-operative dental procedures to patients.

Additional responsibilities of the Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) include:

• Taking and recording medical and dental histories and patient vital signs
• Assisting the dentist in managing dental emergencies
• Improving your clinical skills and acumen through participation in continuing education and training opportunities offered by Heartland Dental

Provider Support:

• Partner with the providers and team to implement Heartland Dental systems and maximize office workflow
• Conduct a thorough review of the patient’s health history in order to provide quality care
• Take and process x-rays and other diagnostic assessments (iTero 3D scanner, digital photography, etc.)
• Provide superior chairside assistance (i.e., four-handed dentistry) to supported dentists during a wide variety of procedures in accordance with the state dental practice act
• Utilize Dentrix for patient scheduling and record keeping
• Prepare treatment room with strict adherence to safety protocols and following OSHA & CDC recommendations
• Manage supply and inventory levels, as well as place and expedite orders as needed

Patient Care:

• Greet and welcome patients from the start of their dental journey, as well as sustain patient comfort and provide appropriate education throughout treatment

Requirements Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) Assistant:

State Dental Assistant Credentials including EFDA

X-Ray & CPR 

As an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA), you must have a positive and outgoing personality, exceptional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills, excellent patient care skills and strong organizational skills.

Additional requirements for the Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) include:

• Superior working knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
• Ability to build rapport with patients
• Good manual dexterity
• Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs
• Ability to travel at least once every other month for training, occasionally overnight
• Dental assisting school certificate is a plus
• Previous work experience in a dental practice is a plus
• Orthodontic work experience in a dental practice is a plus

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties of the position
• Prolonged periods sitting and standing
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds at times
• Availability to attend virtual training sessions (or in-person) periodically throughout the year

TB TEST REQUIREMENT:

• As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for both team members and patients, a tuberculosis (TB) test is required for all new hires in dental office positions. This is a standard requirement for dental office roles and must be completed prior to starting employment. The test will be arranged during the pre-employment process, and any necessary guidance or paperwork will be provided. Not applicable in the state of FL & TN.
