Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

• Must have at least 24 months of Labor & Delivery Unit experience.

• Travel experience is preferred from any number of months.

• Experience with Altera Digital Health a Harris Company is preferred from any number of months.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Texas license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >150 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

Required Skills/Experience: IV therapy/Phlebotomy: Administration of blood & blood products, Drawing Venous Blood, Maintain central lines (CVC / PICC), Starting and maintaining IVs, Use of infusion pumps / drips / IV monitoring; Labor and Delivery Management: Amnioinfusion, Assist with high risk delivery, Assist with vaginal delivery, Circulate for C-section, Forceps/vacuum extraction, Hemorrhage/shock, Recover C-Section, Sterile vaginal exam; Work Settings: Antepartum, Facility births/month <100, Facility births/month 100-200, High Risk Antepartum, Labor and Delivery; Medication & Administration: Anticoagulants, Anticonvulsants, Antihypertensives, Insulin drips, Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin (oxytocin), Prostaglandins, Terbutaline; Neonatal Care in Delivery Room: APGAR scores, Collect cord samples, ID/Security Banding, Radiant Warmers/Thermoregulation; Antepartum Care and Procedures: Assist with sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation), NST (Non Stress Tests), Reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus, Sterile vaginal exam, Triage of obstetrical patients, Use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring); Newborn Care: Car Seat Education, Cord Care, Discharge teaching to parents, Infant Identification, Metabolic Screen, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, Newborn Assessment, Newborn hypoglycemia, Thermoregulation; Postpartum Care and Procedures: Baby friendly protocols, Breastfeeding Support/lactation support, Episiotomy/Incisional Care, Foley catheter insertion/management, Fundus / lochia / perineum care, Wound Assessment and Care; Surgical Case/Procedures: Cervical Cerclage, D & C, Tubal Ligation; Postpartum Care of the Patient with: Cesarean Section, Couplet Care, Multiple Births, Postpartum Hemorrhage, Pregnancy induced hypertension, Vaginal Delivery; Pain Management: Epidural Anesthesia, General Anesthesia, IV conscious sedation, Pain assessment & management, Use of PCA (IV); Professional Topics and Skills: Isolation Precautions/PPE, Vaccine Administration; Fetal Monitoring: Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, Use of External Fetal Monitoring, Use of Internal Fetal Monitoring, Use of IUPC (Intrauterine pressure catheter) placement and calibration

Preferred Skills/Experience: 3 years experience preferred, Labor and Delivery Management: Scrub for C-Section; Work Settings: LDRP, Level I Nursery, Mother/Baby; Neonatal Care in Delivery Room: Baby Nurse (“Baby Catcher”); Antepartum Care and Procedures: Assist with amniocentesis, OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Tests); Newborn Care: Assist with Circumcision/Assess site post-op, Phototherapy, Teach Circumcision care to parents; Pain Management: Nitrous Oxide; Fetal Monitoring: Spiral Electrode Placement; Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Care: Telemetry Interpretation

Types of Patients on Unit: Neonates, Adolescents, Infants, Adults

Shift & Scheduling: 11/10 or 12/1 start date, Number of Weekend Shifts Per Contract: 13 out of wknd shifts nights(fri, sat, or sun) days( sat or sun)

Floating Requirements: May be asked to float to our other campus or another floor, must be flexible

7 days maximum time off

1 reference from last 12 months (Manager/Supervisor reference type) - required for submission

1 reference from last 3 years (Any reference type) - required for submission

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program – 8th Edition)

• Intermediate AWHONN FHM (Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring)

• Advanced AWHONN FHM (Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring)

• STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway. Blood Pressure, Lab work and Emotional Support)
