The Health Information Management (HIM) Department at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore serves as the medical records and information management hub of the hospital. The department plays a vital role in maintaining, protecting, and ensuring the integrity of patient health information—providing clinical teams, administrators, payers, and patients with accurate, secure, and timely access to medical records.

The Role: Lead HIM Technician

The Lead HIM Technician is a senior-level Health Information Management professional responsible for overseeing daily medical records operations while promoting compliance, accuracy, and workflow efficiency. This role provides hands-on leadership and operational support to ensure departmental goals and regulatory standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee daily activities of HIM Technicians
  • Monitor workflow and productivity to ensure departmental deadlines and quality standards are achieved
  • Assign duties and provide guidance to support operational efficiency
  • Train and mentor HIM staff

Requirements

Experience

  • Required: 3–5 years of relevant HIM or medical records experience

Education

  • Preferred: Associate’s degree (A.S.) in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field
  • Relevant education and training required
  • Three (3) years of additional experience may be accepted in lieu of degree

Licensure/Certification

  • Preferred: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential
