About the Role:
  • This position is responsible for general facility, building and equipment maintenance and repair, both scheduled and unscheduled tasks, as assigned by the Call Center and/or Facilities and Maintenance management.
  • Tasks that will be completed include: Work Order completion, Preventative Maintenance completion, problem identification and resolution, determination of material and supplies required for problem resolution, documentation of activities, utilization of the Computer Maintenance Management System, and communicating with the department’s management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic I and II classification. Additional duties include: Installs, tests, inspects, diagnoses
  • , maintains, repairs and replaces equipment and components of new and existing mechanical equipment and systems. Such equipment and systems will include, but not be limited to the following: sterilizers, vacuum pumps, compressors, appliances, pumps, circulators, cooling towers, air handling equipment, regulators, generators, kitchen equipment, etc. , in accordance to departmental procedures, manufacturer’s specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Determines project scope of work, schedules, manpower, material, equipment, etc. to perform and complete tasks.
  • Procures material as directed.
  • Maintains work areas, equipment rooms, and tools so as to be operational, clean and orderly, per departmental guidelines.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as assigned and assists any higher departmental job classification as assigned.
  • Documents work activity both by written means and electronically by use of the Computer Maintenance Management System, per departmental guidelines
  • Reads and interprets written specifications, work orders, written and oral instructions, models and graphic illustrations such as lay-out diagrams, blueprints, work sketches, etc.
  • Mentors newly assigned employees.
  • Provides technical training and guidance to others as assigned.
  • Coordinates mechanical work schedule with other trade mechanics such as electricians, HVACR mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, etc. to ensure timely completion of tasks/projects.
  • Utilizes standard hardware supplies and equipment required by assignments and applies industrial products as directed.
  • Utilizes computer based hospital systems for education, performance reviews, email, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Associate's degree preferred
  • Experience:5 to 7 years of high level knowledge of maintenance systems, Documented training and/or experience in and working knowledge of 120v/208v/277v/460v Electrical, Documented training and/or experience in and working knowledge of pump repair and motor alignment,  Documented training in and working knowledge of compressor/vacuum pump repair. 
  • Certification/Licensure: Full MD Driver's license, good driving record

Union rate $22.29/hour
