MCU / Multi Care Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Experience:

• 24 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.

• Must have at least 24 months of Intensive Care Unit experience.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Arizona license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• COVID booster required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

Resume: Each employment history entry must include all the following: detailed duties, hospital size, unit size, trauma level (if applicable), patient ratio, teaching facility.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Will take one year of ICU and one year of PCU/ Med surg if they have worked in larger facilities and have strong skills.
• RNs required to titrate drips: Sedation, vasopressors, insulin.
• RNs read strips.
• RNs must take 12-lead EKG.

Required Credentials: Clinician must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract. If clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, then they will be DNU for CS AZ and Sacramento for 6 months.

Types of Patients on Unit:

• Medical ICU: Sepsis, suicide attempt, drug or Alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, blood.
• Pressure or heart rate abnormal. Post op complications.
• PCU: non-titratable infusions to maintain heart rate or blood Pressure.

Unit Details:

• Multi Care Unit Level of care is within on unit for all three acuities (not floating between units)
• Beds: 10
• Ratios: Depends on the acuity as this is a combined acuity unit: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6, if no nurse aid for 1:3 primary care.

Previous Employment Requirements: Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year. Cannot have worked perm at another CommonSpirit facility within the last 12 months.

Shift & Scheduling:

• Weekend Requirement every other weekend, Friday and Saturday for Nights.
• Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly.
• Call or standby requirement: If low census, staff rotates standby turns.

Floating Requirements:

• Float to our West Campus in Prescott to care for ICU & PCU to maintain competency in caring for all types of ICU/PCU Patients.
• Would take full med surg team 1:5, Could go to peds to take adult assignment there.
• Can float to west ICU/ PCU - two hour notice before floating.
• First to float.

Facility holidays: 01/01/2025, 11/27/2025, 12/25/2025. Number of holidays allowed off: 1. Start assignment restriction: 14 days
