Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Experience:
• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >65 miles from facility to be submitted.
• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 6 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: - Minimum of 18 months’ experience in Med-Surg and/or ICU with Epic or Cerner experience. If the experience is strictly in ICU, Cerner is required. - At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience is required for 6 North Trauma Surgical. Required skills include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalation skills. - Required skills for 5 South Neuroscience include IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG and NGT care, colostomy/ostomy care, wound care, chest tube care, surgical site care, C-collar care, abdominal binders, and restraints. - Required skills for 5 North MedSurg/Oncology include trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, Foley care, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified. - Required skills for 3 South Orthopedics include PCA pump use, wound care with negative-pressure dressings, dressing changes, Foley care, and care of Hemovac/JP drains. - Required skills for 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology include trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, and following the nurse-driven Foley protocol. - RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every 4 hours.
Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemo experience is highly preferred.

Unit Details: - 6 North Trauma Surgical cares for general surgery and vascular surgery patients. - 5 South Neuroscience includes CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative disease, post-trauma, and angiogram patients. - 5 North MedSurg/Oncology includes MedSurg/oncology patients, all patient types except stroke and MI, palliative care, and ETOH withdrawal. - 4 South Clinical Decision Unit cares for general MedSurg patients, including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C. diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, and end-of-life comfort care. - 3 South Orthopedics includes orthopedic and spine patients with joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies. - 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology includes urology, ENT, orthopedic, and MedSurg patients. - Patient ratios vary by unit: 1:5-6 on 6 North Trauma Surgical, 5 South Neuroscience, 4 South Clinical Decision Unit, and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology; 1:6 on 5 North MedSurg/Oncology; and 1:5 on 3 South Orthopedics, increasing to 1:6 if MedSurg. - Clinical work includes tracheotomy care, suctioning, oxygen therapy, ostomy care, Foley and external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube care, central-line care, pressure-ulcer management/preventive measures, falls-prevention management, and restraints. - Telemetry is monitored on hallway monitors and by telemetry technicians on the ground floor. - Unit equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: - Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. - The schedule cycle is 4 weeks; self-scheduling is not available, and Smart Square must be used.
Floating Requirements: - Floating may be to any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, and ICU-ER/ICU holds).
7 days maximum time off.
