Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: Will accept first-time travelers. Minimum 18 months MedSurg and/or ICU experience with Epic or Cerner experience required; if experience is strictly ICU, Cerner is required. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.

Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility. Staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date. Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. Blackout RTO dates during assignment: Thanksgiving 11/26-30; Christmas and New Year’s 12/21-1/1. Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval.

Unit Details: Will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation. Patient ratios generally 1:4-6; typically 1:4. With the lower ratio, RNs are expected to assist with turns, baths, and ADLs. 6 North Trauma Surgical: general surgery and vascular surgeries; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, escalations. 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post trauma, angiogram; IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: MS/Oncology patients, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, high-acuity, fast-paced MedSurg; 1:4-5 RN/LPN ratio; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemo administration if certified; tele monitored on hallway monitors and by tele techs. 3 South Orthopedics: orthopedic and spine cases including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies; PCA pumps, wound care including negative pressure dressings, dressing changes, foleys, hemovacs/JP drains. 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg; trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes. RNs are required to interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings q4 hours. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell, and Spacelabs monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Weekend rotation every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No on-call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling, uses Smart Square.

Floating Requirements: Float to like units/patient locations: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds.

7 days maximum time off.
