Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Cerner is required.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. - Staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, from last shift worked to start date. - Requested holidays off are not guaranteed prior to arrival. - Baptist blackout 2026 RTO dates: Martin Luther King Jr. Day 1/19-20; Valentine’s Day week 2/13-16; entire month of March; Easter weekend 4/18-20; Mother’s Day weekend 5/10-12; Memorial Day week 5/24-5/26; Father’s Day weekend 6/14-16; Fourth of July 7/3-6; Labor Day weekend 8/30-9/1; Halloween 10/30-11/2; Thanksgiving 11/26-30; Christmas and New Year’s 12/21-1/1. - Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval.
Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months Med-Surg and/or ICU experience and Epic or Cerner experience required; if strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required.
Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.
Unit Details: - Typically 1:4 ratio; with the lower ratio, RNs are expected to turn patients and assist with baths and ADLs. - Home units may include 6 North Trauma Surgical (general and vascular surgeries; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations). - Home units may include 5 South Neuroscience (CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy care, wound care, chest tubes, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, and restraints). - Home units may include 5 North Med-Surg/Oncology (all patient types except stroke and MI, including palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, and MS/oncology patients; high-acuity, fast-paced Med-Surg; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts, and chemo administration if certified). - Home units may include 3 South Orthopedics (joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies; PCA pumps, negative pressure dressings, dressing changes, foleys, and hemovacs/JP drains). - Home units may include 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology (urology, ENT, ortho, and Med-Surg patients; trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, and nurse-driven foley protocol). - Telemetry is monitored by tele techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm strip readings q4 hours. - Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell, and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: - Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling, utilizes Smart Square.
Floating Requirements: - Float to like unit/patient locations (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).
7 days maximum time off.
