Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers accepted. Minimum 18 months MedSurg and/or ICU experience with Epic or Cerner experience required; if experience is strictly ICU, Cerner is required. - 6 North Trauma Surgical assignments require at least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.

Special Requests: - Only 1 active application allowed for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). You may apply to both day and night shift on the same unit and facility, but not to more than one posting for the same shift on the same unit and facility. - Must be gone for 6 months from last shift worked to start date before returning as a traveler. - Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. - RTO blackout dates include Thanksgiving 11/26-30 and Christmas and New Year’s 12/21-1/1. - Up to 7 days off may be approved excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval.

Unit Details: - Assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation. - Float pool covers trauma/surgical, neuroscience, MedSurg/oncology, orthopedics, and MS/ortho/urology patient populations, including general and vascular surgery; CVA, TBI, seizures, AMS, spinal fusions, craniotomies, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; palliative care and ETOH withdrawal; orthopedic and spine cases such as joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies; and urology and ENT patients. - With lower patient loads, RNs are expected to provide total care, including turning patients and assisting with baths and ADLs. - Expected skills across covered units include wound care, chest tubes, NGT/PEG tubes, trach care, IV starts, central line blood draws and dressing changes, ostomy care, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, restraints, PCA pumps, wound vac/negative-pressure dressings, drains, and foley care. - Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours. - Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors. - Chemo administration if certified.

Shift & Scheduling: - Weekend rotation is every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No on-call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling, uses Smart Square.

Floating Requirements: - Floats to like units/patient locations, including MS-to-MS, MS-to-ICU task, MS-to-ER/MS holds; ICU-to-ICU, ICU-to-MS task or limit of 3, and ICU-to-ER/ICU holds.

7 days maximum time off.
