Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg and/or ICU with Epic or Cerner experience required. If experience is strictly ICU, Cerner is required. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.

Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. Previous staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, from last shift worked to start date. Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. Blackout RTO dates during this assignment: Thanksgiving 11/26-30; Christmas and New Year’s 12/21-1/1. Up to 7 days off may be approved excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval.

Unit Details: Potential home units include 6 North Trauma Surgical (general surgery and vascular surgery), 5 South Neuroscience (CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, angiogram), 5 North MedSurg/Oncology (MS/oncology, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal; high-acuity, fast-paced MedSurg), 3 South Orthopedics (joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies), and 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology (urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg). Care may include wound care, chest tubes, NGT/PEG tubes, trach care, IV starts, blood draws from central lines, colostomy/ostomy care, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, PCA pumps, foleys, hemovac/JP drains, wound vacs, and CVL dressing changes. Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm strip readings q4 hours. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology ratio is 1:4-5 for RNs and LPNs. MedSurg/Oncology assignments may include chemo administration if certified. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors. Support includes CNA coverage for VS, ADLs, and glucose checks when available, plus HUC/receptionist, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, hospitalist, and charge nurse support.

Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling; utilizes Smart Square.

Floating Requirements: Floating to any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).

7 days maximum time off.
