Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility. Staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, from last shift worked to start date. Holiday RTO is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. RTO up to 7 days may be approved, excluding blackout dates; NM/Eanh approval is required for blackout dates. Baptist blackout 2026 RTO dates during this assignment: Halloween 10/30-11/2; Thanksgiving 11/26-30; Christmas and New Year’s 12/21-1/1.

Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers accepted. Minimum 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience with Epic or Cerner experience required. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.

Unit Details: 6 North Trauma Surgical: general surgery and vascular surgeries; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations. 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, angiogram; IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tube, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: all patient types except stroke and MI; palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, MS/oncology patients; high acuity and fast-paced MedSurg; 1:4-5 for RNs and LPNs; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemo administration, if certified; tele monitoring on hallway monitors and by tele techs on the ground floor. 3 South Orthopedics: orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies; PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley, drains (Hemovacs/JP drains). 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg; trach, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, follow nurse-driven foley protocol. Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm q4 hours strip reading. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell, Spacelabs.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No on-call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling; utilizes Smart Square.

Floating Requirements: Any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).

7 days maximum time off.
