Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers allowed if they have a minimum of 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience with Epic or Cerner experience. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. - At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience. - RNs are required to interpret and confirm q4 hours strip reading
Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemo experience highly preferred.
Special Requests: - You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. - Previous staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date. - Holiday dates off cannot be contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. - RTO on the following 2026 dates requires approval: Martin Luther King Jr. Day 1/19; Valentine’s Day week 2/13-15; entire month of March; Easter weekend 4/3-4/5; Mother’s Day weekend 5/8-10; Memorial Day week 5/23-5/25; Father’s Day weekend 6/19-21; Fourth of July 7/3-7/5; Labor Day weekend 9/5-9/7; Halloween 10/30-11/1; Thanksgiving 11/25-11/29; Christmas and New Year’s 12/18-1/1. - Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval.
Unit Details: - Float pool assignments may include Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, MedSurg/Oncology, Clinical Decision, Orthopedics, and MS/Ortho/Urology units. - Patient populations include general surgery, vascular surgery, CVA, TBI, seizures, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative disease, post-trauma, angiogram, oncology, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, end-of-life comfort, orthopedic/spine, urology, and ENT patients. - Patient ratios vary by unit: generally 1:5-6; 1:6 on MedSurg/Oncology; 1:5 or 1:6 if MedSurg on Orthopedics. - Expected skills/procedures may include wound care, chest tubes, NGT/PEG care, IV starts, medication administration/documentation and escalations, blood draws from central lines, trach care, colostomy/ostomy care, surgical site care, C-collar and abdominal binder management, restraints, suctioning, O2 therapy, Foley and external catheter care, central line care, pressure ulcer management and preventive measures, PCA pumps, negative pressure dressings, drains including Hemovac/JP drains, wound vacs, and nurse-driven Foley protocols. - Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours. - Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors. - Chemo administration may be needed if certified. - Parking: Parking deck only 2nd through 4th levels
Shift & Scheduling: - Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. - Weekend rotation is every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling, uses Smart Square.
Floating Requirements: - Float to any like unit/patient location: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds.
7 days maximum time off.
