Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers allowed with a minimum of 18 months experience in MedSurg and/or ICU with Epic or Cerner experience. If strictly ICU experience, Cerner is required. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience highly preferred.
Special Requests: You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility. Staff has to be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, from last shift worked to start date. Holiday time off cannot be contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. Unit Details: 6 North Trauma Surgical: general surgery and vascular surgeries; patient ratio 1:5-6; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations. 5 South Neuroscience: CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post trauma, angiogram; patient ratio 1:5-6; IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tube, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology: all patient types except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, MS/Oncology patients; patient ratio 1:6 for RNs and LPNs; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemo administration, if certified; tele monitoring on hallway monitors and by tele techs on ground floor. 4 South Clinical Decision Unit: general MedSurg patients including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, end of life comfort; patient ratio 1:5-6; tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube, central line care, pressure ulcer management/preventive measures, falls prevention management, restraints. 3 South Orthopedics: orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies; patient ratio 1:5, 1:6 if MedSurg; PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, Foley, drains (hemovacs/JP drains). 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology: urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg; patient ratio 1-5:6; trach, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, follow nurse-driven Foley protocol. Support includes CNA ratio 1:6 for vital signs, ADLs, and glucose checks; HUC, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist coverage. Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm q4 hours strip readings. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No on-call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.
Floating Requirements: Float to any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).
7 days maximum time off.
