Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers allowed with at least 18 months of MedSurg experience and Epic or Cerner experience. - If assigned to 6 North Trauma Surgical, at least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience is required.

Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemotherapy experience strongly preferred.

Special Requests: - You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). If you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. - Must be away from the facility for 6 months between last shift worked and traveler start date before returning as a traveler. - Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. - Baptist 2026 RTO dates needing approval: Martin Luther King Jr. Day 1/19; Valentine’s Day week 2/13-2/15; entire month of March; Easter weekend 4/3-4/5; Mother’s Day weekend 5/8-5/10; Memorial Day week 5/23-5/25; Father’s Day weekend 6/19-6/21; Fourth of July 7/3-7/5; Labor Day weekend 9/5-9/7; Halloween 10/30-11/1; Thanksgiving 11/25-11/29; Christmas and New Year’s 12/18-1/1.

Unit Details: - Float pool covers Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, MedSurg/Oncology, Clinical Decision, Orthopedics, and MS/Ortho/Urology units. - Ratios vary by unit: 1:5-6 on Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, and Clinical Decision; 1:6 on MedSurg/Oncology; 1:5 on Orthopedics (1:6 if MedSurg); 1:5-6 on MS/Ortho/Urology. - Patient populations include general and vascular surgery; CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; MedSurg/oncology and palliative care patients; general MedSurg diagnoses including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI, and end-of-life comfort; orthopedic and spine patients; and urology and ENT patients. - Common skills and procedures include wound care, chest tubes, trach care, PEG/NGT care, ostomy/colostomy care, IV starts, blood draws from central lines, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, restraints, suctioning, O2 therapy, foley care, external catheter care, central line/CVL dressing changes, pressure ulcer prevention and management, PCA pumps, negative pressure dressings, hemovacs/JP drains, wound vacs, and nurse-driven foley protocol. - MedSurg/Oncology may include chemotherapy administration if certified. - Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours. - Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.

Floating Requirements: - Float to like units and patient locations: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds.

10 days maximum time off.
