Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.
• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers allowed if they have at least 18 months of MedSurg experience and Epic or Cerner experience. At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Chemo experience highly preferred.
Special Requests: Only 1 active application allowed for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). Staff must be gone for 6 months before returning as a traveler, from last shift worked to start date. Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. Unit Details: 6 North Trauma Surgical cares for general surgery and vascular surgery patients; patient ratio 1:5-6; wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations. 5 South Neuroscience cares for CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post trauma, and angiogram patients; patient ratio 1:5-6; IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, colostomy/ostomy, wound care, chest tube, surgical site care, C-collar, abdominal binders, restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology cares for all patient types except stroke and MI, including palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, and MS/Oncology patients; patient ratio 1:6 for RN and LPNs; trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, Foleys, IV starts, chemo administration if certified; tele monitoring on hallway monitors and by tele techs on ground floor. 4 South Clinical Decision Unit cares for general MedSurg patients including COPD, CHF, Diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, Pneumonia, Renal Failure, Sepsis, UTI, and End of Life Comfort; patient ratio 1:5-6; tracheotomy care, suctioning, O2 therapy, ostomy care, Foley care, external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tube, central line care, pressure ulcer management/preventive measures, falls prevention management, restraints. 3 South Orthopedics cares for orthopedic and spine patients including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies; patient ratio 1:5, 1:6 if MedSurg; PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, Foley, drains (hemovacs/JP drains). 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology cares for urology, ENT, ortho, and MedSurg patients; patient ratio 1-5:6; trach, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, follow nurse-driven Foley protocol. Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors. Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs are required to interpret and confirm q4 hours strip reading.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. No on-call. One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week.
Floating Requirements: Floats to any like unit/patient location (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds).
10 days maximum time off.
