Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 3 years of Medical Surgical Oncology experience.
• Experience with Epic is required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Hawaii license (required for submission).

Required Skills/Experience: Must demonstrate knowledge of the proper handling, administration, and disposal of hazardous drugs and proper use of PPE.
Special Requests: Travelers must arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start and report to the scheduled Employee Health appointment at Hilo Employee Health on Friday morning, 48-72 hours before the assignment; do not accept the offered start date if you cannot be there on time.
Shift & Scheduling: The schedule is Monday-Friday. Holiday coverage is required.
Unit Details: The nurse independently administers a variety of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and chemo, hormonal, and non-chemo/hormonal injections. The role includes accessing port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters; performing venipuncture and PICC and Hickman dressings; and drawing labs via ports, PICCs, and Hickman catheters. The nurse verifies informed consent before administering chemotherapy. The nurse provides education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding medications and treatments, expected responses and side effects, disease process, nutrition, activity, and physical adjustments related to the disease process or treatment. The nurse monitors intravenous therapies and patient responses and notifies the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner of unusual occurrences, initiating appropriate emergency action when necessary.
