Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit - Travel Registered Nurse - $1720 per week.

Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.
• Experience with Meditech is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Louisiana license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.
• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care. Ability to read cardiac strips.
Required Credentials: Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival (includes Med-Surg RNs).
Special Requests: Travelers who were previously permanent staff must have been separated for 1 year. Any full week of RTO requires a contract extension. Only 1 weekend of RTO may be requested per 13-week contract. RTO blackout dates are Halloween 2024 and Black Friday 2024.
Unit Details: The patient population includes patients awaiting transplant, recent transplant patients, and patients with a transplant history. Common Med-Surg/Telemetry diagnoses include, but are not limited to, CHF, COPD, altered mental status, and DKA. The unit occasionally manages chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis patients, and cardiac drips without titration; wound care is directed by WOCNs, with IV initiation and OneTouch checks. Charge nurses may or may not have a patient assignment. Phlebotomy is available for peripheral blood draws only. The IV/VAT team is available on days, with minimal night-shift coverage for line placement. A resource nurse/CN is available on each rotation, with a head RN, PCC, and educator on day shift. Respiratory therapy is specifically assigned to the unit 24/7. A hospitalist is available, including on call overnight. OT, PT, and ST services are available. Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing are used on the unit.
Shift & Scheduling: Work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week; this is mandatory. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. No call. Will work 2/3 major holidays.
Floating Requirements: The traveler is the first to float to any other unit within scope of practice.
7 days maximum time off
2 Charge/Lead/Supervisor references required from within the last 12 months
