Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.

• Experience with Meditech is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Louisiana license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: First-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care. Required skills include wound management, JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, and pain management.

Required Credentials: Travelers, including Med-Surg RNs, are required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival.

Special Requests: Travelers who were previously permanent staff must have been separated for 1 year. RTO of up to 7 days requires a 1-week assignment extension for every full week requested off. Only 1 weekend of RTO may be requested per 13-week contract.

Unit Details: The patient population includes sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and PNA. Post-op overflow occasionally includes total joints (knees, hips, shoulders) and GI/abdominal surgeries (hemicolectomies, bowel resection, etc.). RN-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6; nights are 1:6. The charge nurse is typically free-floating. HUC/secretary coverage is available on day shift only. Phlebotomy is in-house; RNs draw CVLs, PICCs, and midlines. The IV/VAT team is available 7a-3p for PICC placement. Respiratory therapy is in-house, a hospitalist is in-house for most patients, and OT, PT, and ST services are available. The unit uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis for medication dispensing.

Shift & Scheduling: The schedule requires working 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. No call. Will work 2/3 holidays.

Floating Requirements: Floating is to any Med-Surg area within the hospital; travelers float first.

7 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead/Supervisor references required from within the last 12 months
