Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Experience:
• 18 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

Unit Details: Post-surgical Med-Surg/Tele unit caring for patients with small bowel obstructions; general surgery cases including colectomy, colon/small bowel resections, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repairs, splenectomy, and thyroidectomy; kidney stones, pneumothorax, bariatric surgery, rib fractures, hip fractures, joint replacements, and cellulitis. Required clinical skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tubes, ostomy care, drains, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. RN ratios 1:4-6; surge times could be 1:7-8. Department support includes NA+4, charge nurse 24/7, phlebotomy 24/7 for peripheral blood draws, IV/VAT team, resource nurse as staffing allows, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, intensivist 24/7, and remote telemetry monitoring. Uses BD Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Masimo monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. No call. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. Schedule cycle every 6 weeks.
Special Requests: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays; must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.
Floating Requirements: Travel nurses float first to other nursing units based on patient care needs and staffing demands and will take patients within scope of practice on any unit (e.g. MedSurg assignment in ICU, MedSurg holds in ED). Required to float per region needs to Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH pediatrics only) within scope of practice.
