Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 18 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 months worked in the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Georgia license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed.

Additional Details:

Required Credentials: Basic cardiac rhythm (BCR) required; traveler must pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance.

Preferred Credentials: Nephrology nursing certification preferred.

Special Requests: RTO requests require manager approval.

Unit Details: Orthopedic and trauma population including fractures (femur, tib-fib, humerus, spinal, rib), head trauma/hemorrhage, osteomyelitis, acute and chronic disease, post-op surgeries, and common med-surg comorbidities including diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances. Skills and procedures include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, drips titrated for HR but not BP, IV insertion and care, central line management, wound care, post-op monitoring, cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation, and discharge planning/patient education on renal and fluid management. Support/resources include CNA assistance with vital signs, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulation, turning, hourly rounding, and transport; charge nurse may have patients; most units are lab-collect phlebotomy with nurses drawing from CVLs; no IV team, but a PICC team is available; central telemetry unit. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, portable vital sign monitors (Dynamapp), bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, external fixators, chest tubes, JP drains, Hemovac drains, Glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machines.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 on a 6-week schedule. No call. Work one shift of each major holiday: Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1. Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.

Floating Requirements: Float to all adult med surg/telemetry units in house.

14 days maximum time off

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

Proof of identification required

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) or the alternative certification CNN
