Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: General Med/Tele skillset: stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley insertion/management), PCA pumps, and medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Prior travel experience preferred; first-time travelers will be considered.

Unit Details: ADTU and Satellite consist of 5 med-surg and med-tele units focused on decompressing the ED and other specialty areas within the hospital. Adult and geriatric population. Common diagnoses include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls with injuries, MVC with injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA. RN ratios vary by unit: 6CD 1:5-6, acuity dependent, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8; 3K 1:4; 5A 1:4; 3L 1:4; 1T 1:4. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors. Telemetry monitoring with no tele tech; nurses on each unit monitor telemetry and the primary nurse completes an interpretation each shift. On 6CD, the charge nurse also assists with telemetry monitoring. Support includes CNA coverage, a unit secretary on 6CD supporting ADTU units, a free charge nurse on 6CD supporting all ADTU units, 24/7 phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, RT, hospitalist coverage, intensivist coverage, and resource nurses on long-term contracts.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. No call. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. Schedule cycle every 6 weeks.

Special Requests: RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours.

Floating Requirements: Required to float within region needs and scope of practice. Floating region for this assignment is Region 2 or Region 3. Region 2 includes Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and Central Division (CMC Main + CMC Mercy + Levine Children’s Hospital). Region 3 includes Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH).
