Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 18 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: - Experience with the patient types listed for the unit, NG tube placement/management, Foley placement/management, chest tube management, Pleurex and other drains, wound care, central line/ports/midline blood draws, and cardiac rhythm interpretation. - Drips (possible to titrate within set parameters): Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, insulin.
Unit Details: - Mostly geriatric patients. - Cardiac patients include CHF and chest pain observation; no Cath Lab on site, and patients needing cath are transferred to St. Luke’s MC. - Neuro patients include seizure observation, stroke observation, TIA vs. stroke rule-out, and altered mental status. - General medical patients include COPD and respiratory, kidney, liver, and GI issues. - RN ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:6-7, can go up to 1:8, but not common. CNA ratios: Days 1:5-6; Nights 1:7-8. - Charge RN takes a reduced patient assignment. HUC until 2300. Phlebotomy handles peripheral lab draws. RT and hospitalist coverage 24/7. OT/PT/ST during the day. - Uses Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, centralized telemetry monitoring with tele techs and a central monitor at the nurse’s station, and patient lifts including ceiling lifts.
Shift & Scheduling: - Night shift: 1900-0730. - Every other weekend. - Only low census; could be placed on low census call for up to 36h per contract. - 50% of holidays per contract.
Floating Requirements: - Could float and take patient assignments on other Med-Surg units or anywhere in the hospital where Med-Surg patients are located, including ER hold and ICU. Will only take a Med-Surg patient assignment.
