Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Experience:
• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).
• Experience with Epic is required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.
Required Skills/Experience: Must have total joint experience. Understanding of PCA pumps, reversal drugs (Narcan), and sepsis management. Experience with TPN/lipids and narcotic usage. 1 year of surgical experience required.
Unit Details: Inpatient surgical Med Surg/Telemetry unit. Common patient population/procedures include neuro and surgical patients such as laminectomy, cervical fusion, LESI, ostomies, hernia repair, total hip/knee replacements, fem-pop bypass, dialysis catheter insertions, BKA/AKA, sepsis, urgent OR cases, chronic pain, IV antibiotics, PICC, TPN/lipids, PCA, and some epidurals. Nurse-patient ratios: 1:4-6 on days, 1:5-6 on nights. LPNs are available, and virtual admission/discharge nurses assist. Primary care nursing model is frequently used. Heparin drips are titrated per protocol. Tele monitor techs are available; RNs interpret their own strips. Uses Draeger monitors. RT manages CPAP home units and Airvo when needed; BiPAP is occasionally used and remains on the unit. Fast-paced unit with heavy patients; may receive 8-12 surgery admits per day while also discharging patients.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend. Holiday rotation with core staff. No call.
Special Requests: Block scheduling is not guaranteed; discuss scheduling needs with the leader.
Floating Requirements: Float to like units only. If floated to a higher acuity unit, you would work as a help-all and not take a patient load.
14 days maximum time off
1 Charge/Lead/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months
