Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 18 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience with 1 months worked in the last 12 months.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• ASN completion required.

Required Skills/Experience: - Trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, Glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to HR not BP. - Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills for Level 1 Trauma Hospital - IV insertion and care, central line management - Wound care and post op monitoring - Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation - Care coordination with interdisciplinary teams - Discharge planning and patient education
Required Credentials: - Basic cardiac rhythm (BCR) required. - ASN / BSN
Special Requests: RTO requests require manager approval.
Unit Details: Cares for patients with acute or chronic disease and post-op surgeries; common comorbidities include diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances. Support includes CNAs to assist with vital signs, glucose checks, baths, feeding, ambulation, turning, hourly rounding, transport as needed, and blood bank pickup; unit secretary on unit; charge nurse on each unit; phlebotomy is mostly lab-collect and nurses draw from CVLs; no IV/VAT team; RT, hospitalist, and intensivist available 24/7; central telemetry unit. Uses Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell, Phillips monitors, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, portable vital sign monitors, bladder scanners, portable oxygen systems, Glucommander, PCA pain management, and suction machines. Free parking.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation: 6 shifts on a 6-week schedule (6 out of 12 shifts). No call. Holiday expectation: work one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after + 12/24 or 12/25 + 12/31 or 1/1). Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.
Floating Requirements: Float to all adult med-surg/telemetry units in house, including SNU and ER for med-surg holds.

1 Manager/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months
1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months
Proof of identification required
Certifications:
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) or the alternative certification RN-BC
