Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Experience:
• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
• Must have at least 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.
• BSN completion preferred
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Maryland license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <60 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• Flu vaccination required for submission. Declinations not accepted.
• 12 months between Staff at Program: Aya Program - MedStar Health

Additional Details:
References must cover at least 1 full year of relevant experience in specialty within the past 3 years.

Previous Employment Requirements: Return Staff Policy If a nurse has held previous employment with Medstar, must be gone for a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.

Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit: Patient Diagnosis: Diabetes, congestive heart failure, infection, sepsis, COPD, general surgery (kidney stones, appendectomy, minor amputations), sickle cell crisis, GI bleed, diverticulitis, general medicine/observation. Special Procedures/Unit Details: Most surgical cases are placed on our unit. Large orthopedic program (total joints), colorectal surgeries, vascular procedures, bariatric surgery. Although the unit accommodates pediatric patients on that unit, travelers are not expected to hold PALS certification or care for pediatric patients. The Telemetry unit is adult only.
Equipment Used on Unit: Patient lifts (ceiling and portable), CADD pump, chest tubes, telemetry monitoring, capnography.
Unit/Facility Details: Beds: 44
Special Requests: RTO must be on the submittal and cannot be changed once the profile has been sent to the manager for review. No RTO the first two weeks of an assignment.
Shift & Scheduling: Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend. 6 weekend shifts in 6 weeks per contract.
Floating Requirements: Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity.
7 days maximum time off
2 references from last 12 months (Manager/Supervisor reference type) - required for submission
