Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
• Must have at least 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.
• 3 months of experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Maine license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >100 miles from facility to be submitted.
• Flu vaccination required for submission. Medical declinations accepted.
• 36 months between Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Northern Light

Required Skills/Experience: Skills required: Telemetry experience (Cardiac rhythm interpretation) – will not transport patient on Tele but must be able to verify/interpret strips on the unit General post-surgical experience is a MUST. Vascular surgical patients comprise a large portion of our patient population. This person would need to have the basic knowledge of what to look at and for (assessment-wise) with this type of patient. Peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, TPN, Trach Care, Chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, drain management and removal (JP, Accordian), dressing changes, wound vacs. Comfortability to discontinue non-tunneled catheters, will wean patients off Epidural pump per order set, PCAs. Heparin Drips, Insulin Drips; Cardiac drips (Cardizem, amiodarone) – protocols for rate changes on Haskell 3 side.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Ortho post-op (total joints, ORIF) experience is preferred.
Required Credentials: NURSYS. Basic EKG certification (ability to read/interpret cardiac rhythm strips).
**Types of Patients Patient Types: Please note – any new travelers coming must be willing to go between Merritt 3 (Surgical) and Haskell 3 (Cardiac Tele). If a new traveler has one skillset but not the other, please send to unit manager for approval to offer, in case she has greater needs in one of the areas – it is considered (1) large unit and traveler will work the two areas interchangeably.
Cardiac Tele Overflow (Haskell 3): Cardiac post procedural – Traveler must have Cardiac Telemetry experience – please decline without this and note this reason on the CIS Dashboard Cardiac medical and post-surgical/procedures—CHF, angina, acute MI, NSTEMI, cardiac arrest, arrhythmias, TAVR, watchman, CABG, MVR, AVR, EP studies, pacemaker/AICD, TEE, TTE, stress tests, s/p cardiac cath, protocols in place to load IV amiodarone or adjust insulin, diltiazem and epidural drips All beds have remote Telemetry monitoring capabilities.
Equipment Used on Unit: Technology/Equipment: EMR: Cerner. IV pumps: Alaris. Medication dispensing: Pyxis.
Unit/Facility Details: General Information: Beds: (48) on Merritt 3; Haskell 3 – 10 beds. Will you accept a first-time traveler? RN: Not taking 1st time travelers at this time.
Special Requests: RTO approval: Must be sent to Manager for approval. Travel Pairs: If you are in a relationship, EMMC will not schedule you on the same days. If you are not in a relationship, you can be scheduled for the same days if not on the same shift/unit. Managers will not guarantee the same schedule for travel pairs.
Shift & Scheduling: Scheduling: Weekend rotation: every other; occasionally back-to-back weekends – flexibility is key. On call? No call. Holiday Expectations: manager approval. Schedule cycle: 4 weeks at a time; will receive 2 weeks in advance.
Floating Requirements: Floating: If yes, where? Any other unit to care for patients within or below scope of practice
