Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Mississippi license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: Experience at a larger facility with a lot of surgeries/high-acuity patients is required, and the clinician must be comfortable with lines and chest tubes.

Special Requests: Managers will try to accommodate block scheduling as schedule allows.

Unit Details: The unit is an infectious disease Med-Surg unit treating current COVID patients and Med-Surg overflow. Patient ratios are adjusted down for higher-acuity patients. Heparin is titrated by RNs; amiodarone may be started by order before the patient is transferred to the cardiac unit. Cardiac drips are used on 3 South only. All units have telemetry capability; patients are monitored and the central monitor station communicates with the RN. At night, CPAP/BiPAP may be used with respiratory therapy support; high flow is used on 2 North. Uses Omnicell.

Shift & Scheduling: Shift times may be 7a-7p or 7p-7a. Travelers are expected to fill schedule gaps. Weekend coverage is every other weekend or 2 weekends per month and may be higher to meet department needs. The unit is open to travelers working every weekend if they prefer, but this is not required. Travelers are expected to be available for 2 major and 2 minor holidays; holiday coverage may be discussed in the interview. Major holidays are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day; minor holidays are the day before/after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. No call.

Floating Requirements: Staff float among all Med-Surg units within their skill set; higher-acuity patients are assigned to core staff.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

Driver’s license required for submission
