Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Mississippi license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: Level 1 trauma experience is required or experience at a larger facility with many surgeries/high-acuity patients. Must be comfortable with lines and chest tubes.

Unit Details: The unit serves all patient populations, including general med-surg patients and patients with congestive heart failure, diabetes, postsurgical conditions, trauma, acute kidney injury, sickle cell anemia, gastroparesis, and respiratory illnesses. Drips may include heparin; an order for amiodarone may be started before transfer to the cardiac unit. Cardiac drips are used on 3 South only. All units have telemetry capability, and patients are monitored on all units. A central monitor station communicates with the RN; on 3 South, every patient is on telemetry with central monitors at the nurses’ station. CPAP and BiPAP are used at night with respiratory therapy support; high-flow oxygen is used on 2 North. The unit uses Omnicell.

Shift & Scheduling: Night shifts run 7p-7a. Travelers are expected to fill schedule gaps. Every other weekend or 2 weekends per month is standard and could be higher to meet department needs. The unit is open to travelers who want to work every weekend, but this is not required. Holiday coverage rotates with regular staff, and clinicians must be available to work 2 of 3 upcoming holidays. No call.

Special Requests: Managers will try to accommodate block scheduling as the schedule allows.

Floating Requirements: All staff float between med-surg units within their skill set; higher-acuity patients are assigned to core staff.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead/Supervisor reference required from within the last 12 months

Driver’s license required for submission
