Shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical Unit experience.

• 3 months of travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• ADN completion required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Indiana license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >40 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Declinations not accepted.

• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: 1 travel assignment required. Recent Epic experience required.

Required Credentials: Associate degree or certificate required.

Unit Details: Patient population includes cardiac patients (chest pain, stress test/Lexiscan, post-cath without intervention), CVA/TIA, hypotension, syncope/dizziness, shortness of breath, post-surgical patients, GI/urology pre- and post-procedure patients, AKI, cellulitis, and detox/CIWA. Unit skills include cardiac cath recovery (femoral/TR bands), post-surgical care (appy, chole, stones), NIHSS/neuro assessment/dysphagia screening, initiating/titrating heparin and insulin drips, indwelling drain management, straight catheter/Foley care, NG tube insertion, and blood administration/documentation. Patient ratios vary by shift: 1:4-5 from 0700-1500, 1:5-6 from 1500-1900, and 1:6-7 from 1900-0700. The charge nurse takes a patient assignment on all shifts. May require precepting of students and new hires.

Shift & Scheduling: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule. Every other holiday. Flexible contract hours: 36 per week; 48 per week is available upon request. Set weekly hours are not assured during orientation week or when the unit is closed for holidays.

Floating Requirements: The clinician is first to float within their skill set. Floating may be required to the Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus (8 miles apart) and potentially to Deaconess Henderson (KY; 11 miles). Two hours’ notice is given for cross-campus floats. Mid-shift floats occur within the same campus. Cross-campus mid-shift floats are unlikely but possible.
