Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse- $2000 per week.

Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM

Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with any experience within the last 4 months.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

• AS completion required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a California license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Anyone currently working at this facility cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Preferred Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

Unit Details: The unit has only a medical-surgical patient population and currently does not include telemetry care. Medical-surgical care focuses on neurotrauma patients, postoperative orthopedic patients, and pneumonia/infection patients. Patient populations include adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, including those with hearing, learning, and physical disabilities. Clinical duties include IV therapy, including blood products; care and maintenance of indwelling catheters and drains; epidural management; care of acute postoperative wounds; sterile technique; and assessment of vascular patency. Equipment includes glucose meters, IV pumps, and PCA machines. Uses Pyxis and Omnicell medication systems. No IV team is available. A lift team is available daily from 6 AM-midnight. Pharmacy is available M-F 6am-2100 and weekends 8am-1800; an off-site pharmacy contract covers after-hours. Phlebotomy is available on the unit 24:7. No transport team is available. Intensivist coverage is in-house 6 am-1800pm; 18-06 coverage is on call at Sierra Vista and French Hospital (a hospital 1.5 miles away), with the intensivist required to be in-house at either facility during those hours. Hospitalist coverage is available 24/7.

Shift & Scheduling: Staff must work 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week period. Day-shift weekends are Saturday and Sunday, and night-shift weekend obligations are Friday and Saturday PM shifts. No call.

Floating Requirements: You may be required to float to Adventist Health locations within 30 miles. Day-shift Med-Surg nurses stay on the unit; no floating is required on nights.
