Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience.

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Kentucky license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

Required Skills/Experience: Required skills include tracheostomy care, ventilator care, IVs, PICCs, central lines, wound care, bowel programs, TPN, drains/tubes, care of pulmonary patients with tracheostomies, laryngectomies, and G-tube/PEG-tube feeds. Special Requests: First-time travelers require manager approval. RTO requests must go through the manager. Some holiday work is expected. If there are back-to-back holidays in the contract (e.g., Thanksgiving/Black Friday or Christmas Eve/Christmas Day), clinicians will be assigned one holiday in the grouping, not both.

Unit Details: The unit focuses on traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). Patient populations and conditions include traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, burns, pediatric and multi-trauma cases, pneumonia, tunneled catheters, and post-craniotomy patients with shunts. Average length of stay is 14 days. Travelers are not expected to care for pediatric patients. Dialysis patients are sent to hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis patients are taken to the cycler area. Patient assignments may reach 7 patients 2-3 times per month. Phlebotomy support is available, but RNs remain ultimately responsible. Core staff are responsible for VADs. The unit has no monitors; Vital Sync monitors connect to OxyNet, with monitoring centralized at night. Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps and Omnicell medication dispensing.

Shift & Scheduling: Weekend rotation is every third weekend. No call is required. Schedules are set in 6-week cycles.

Floating Requirements: Floating may occur within the scope of practice; all staff float evenly, and floating is primarily through the Float Pool.
