Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Experience with Cerner is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a North Dakota license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed.

• No current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - SMP St. Andrews.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Unit Details: - Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3-6 for Med-Surg; 1:10-13 for swing bed. - Common patient population/diagnoses include diabetes, MI, CHF, A-fib, cellulitis, GI bleeds, UTI, pneumonia, COVID, chest pain, gastroenteritis, falls, weakness, electrolyte imbalances, and COPD. Large elderly population with chronic conditions. - RNs titrate insulin, heparin, and most medications until patients are transferred out, if warranted. - No tele techs on the unit; RNs read and interpret their own strips using Phillips monitors. - Charge RN typically carries a light patient assignment. - No RT on the unit; staff perform ABGs, breathing treatments, and 12 Lead EKGs. - Access/de-access ports, PICC care, wound care/wound vac, and mixing/preparing medications.

Shift & Scheduling: - Modified self-scheduling. Final schedules are balanced to unit needs, and travelers must be flexible to help fill permanent scheduling gaps. - Every other to every 3rd weekend. - May be asked to participate in holiday rotation. - No call or standby.

Floating Requirements: - All positions work in acute Med/Surg, swing bed, and ER, with floating between Med/Surg/swing bed and ER.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months

Proof of identification required

Certifications:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

• NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)

• TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course)
