Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 2 years of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 24 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone who worked as a traveler at a facility in this program in the last 24 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Artificial nails are not allowed for any travelers. Failure to adhere could result in being sent home and/or terminated if policy is not followed.

If candidate worked a perm facility in the last 12 months, 1 reference must be from a perm facility.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Strong knowledge of Med-Surg, infectious disease, isolation precautions, etc.

Eligibility as Current/Previous Employee: cumulative experience applies for previous travelers. Block scheduling will be allowed as long as unit needs are met.

Unit Details

The unit cares for all types of infectious disease and isolation cases, including COVID-19, MRSA, and C. difficile. Patient ratios are 1:5-6, or 1:4 for COVID patients. The unit does not use cardiac drips; common IV medications include heparin, other typical Med-Surg IV medications, and antibiotics. Patients may have CPAP, BiPAP, or high-flow oxygen, managed by respiratory therapy; the unit has no ventilators. Remote telemetry is monitored from the third floor, with monitors at the desk; RNs do not read or interpret strips.

Shift & Scheduling

Travelers will be scheduled where they are needed. Every other weekend; night weekend shifts are Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Holiday scheduling depends on unit needs; travelers would be expected to work holidays if permanent staff coverage is insufficient.

Floating Requirements

Travelers are the first to float and must float to any Med-Surg units; if floated to Tele, they will be assigned patients within their skill set.

1 Charge/Lead/Supervisor reference required from within the last 2 years
