Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 1 month within the last 12 months.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 2 experience is required.

• ADN completion required.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Wisconsin license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.

Additional Details:

An interview with the unit manager may not be available prior to offer. If you do not interview with the unit manager, you may interview with a third-party clinical nurse manager.

Required Credentials: Associate degree or certificate.

Unit Details: Post-surgical care is provided after PACU for pre- and post-surgical adults and geriatric patients. The unit is fast-paced and averages 10-15 admissions per day, with the highest volume on day/PM shifts. Unit occupancy is 90-95% during the week; average length of stay is 2 – 3 days, except for joints. Day/PM nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 or 1:5; night ratios are 1:5-7. Uses Rovers for medication scanning and Alaris pumps.

Shift & Scheduling: Variable 12-hour day/night shifts are 7a-7p/7p-7a. Every other weekend and holiday. No on-call requirement. The contract is eligible for 36 hours of low-census time per contract and may be low-censused in hour increments as needed; the unit typically low-censuses in 4 hr increments and may ask a traveler to work only 4 or 8 hrs of a shift. Flexible contract hours: Set weekly hours are not assured during orientation week or when the unit is closed for holidays.

Floating Requirements: Floats to all inpatient units.
