Experience:
• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a North Dakota license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• No current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - Heart of America Medical Center.

Required Skills/Experience: - IV experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience: - Ability to assist in the ER as backup if EMS is out on a call preferred.
Special Requests: - Block scheduling may be available as long as unit needs are met.
Unit Details: - Typical ratios are 1:6 or less on both days and nights; 1:8 rarely on nights depending on acuity/staffing. - Common patient population includes pneumonia, rehab, UTI, general post-op, pain control, general medical, aspiration, fractures, dementia, falls, and occasional pediatric patients needing IV fluids. - May need to titrate drips for short periods; most commonly Cardizem. - No monitor techs; RNs must read and interpret their own strips using Phillips monitors. - No RT at this facility. RNs may support home CPAP patients, perform breathing treatments, chest physiotherapy, patient education, and bag patients if needed, with EMS and charge assistance as needed. - BiPap and vents may be used in the ER for short periods. - Charge nurse typically does not take an assignment and may cover the ER or serve as an extra floor nurse/house supervisor; administrator on call. - One aide/tech each 8-hour shift for vitals, ambulation, ADLs, and rounding. - NP in house and a telemedicine provider available as needed.
Shift & Scheduling: - Rotating days and nights. - Every other weekend typically for contracted staff; weekends are Friday/Saturday/Sunday for nights and Saturday/Sunday for days. - Every other holiday; half on/half off holiday rotation. - Contract staff are scheduled around already-made staff schedules. - No call.
