Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Experience:
• 12 months of role experience is required with some in the last 12 months.
• Must have at least 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience.
• 3 months of experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
• Trauma Level 2 experience is required from any number of months
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Maine license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >100 miles from facility to be submitted.
• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• 36 months between Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Northern Light

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience:
• Experience caring for Geriatrics (ideal candidate would have SNF or LTAC experience)
• Charge experience, dressing changes, IV antibiotic administration (most patients will not have IV access), enteral feedings
Required Credentials:
• Medication Exam
• License should not expire within 45 days following start date
• N-95 Mask Fit Test
Procedures/Diagnostics/Treatments Performed on Unit:
• 0600 or 1800 med pass for most meds, there may be meds due at other times
• Dressing changes
• Straight caths (some patients straight cath themselves)
• Nursing care is less than acute level of care i.e. vital signs are once a day; full assessment is weekly
Types of Patients on Unit:
Discharge Ready Unit
• A variety of patients are cared for here who are awaiting placement in the community
• Heavy behavioral/psych on top of LTC/SNF. Security is present on the unit due to aggressive patients
• Typically, non-acute – without the need for special monitoring or IV access. Occasionally, patients are admitted for IV antibiotics only, but they do not receive frequent doses
• Mobility of patients range from independent transfer to Hoyer/2 assist
• Patients are cared for under a nursing home model with focus on fall prevention, skin integrity and activities
Unit/Facility Details:
• Parking: Free in designated areas
• Patient Ratio: Days and Nights - up to 1:9; 4 RN’s + 1 CRN (unassigned)
• Level II Trauma Center Bed: 411
• Beds: 21

• Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying.
• Travel Pairs: If you are in a relationship, EMMC will not schedule you on the same days. If you are not in a relationship, you can be scheduled for the same days if not on the same shift/unit. Managers will not guarantee the same schedule for travel pairs.
