Experience:
• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.
• Travel experience is required.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
• Trauma Level 1 experience is required.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.
• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Required Skills/Experience: - Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit. - Heparin gtt experience required.
Special Requests: - Block scheduling may be possible with staffing.
Unit Details: - Neuro Med-Surg acute unit caring for stroke, spine surgery, seizure, brain tumor, head injury, other neuroscience patients, and some medical overflow. - Nurse:patient ratios are day shift 1:4-5 and nights 1:5-6. - RNs titrate heparin drips based on PTT. - Charge nurse and house supervisor are available 24/7; the charge nurse does not take an assignment unless staffing is short and ratios would be exceeded. - Patient care tech support ratios are days 1:9-10, evenings 1:9-10, and nights 1:10-12. - High flow is used for stable COVID patients only and is very rare on this unit. - House-wide telemetry; nurses do not need to read their own strips. Phillips monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend; Saturday and Sunday are considered the weekend for both shifts. - Every other holiday. - No call.
Floating Requirements: - Float in rotation with the rest of staff. General unit travelers float to general unit floors and take a full team. If floated outside of a general unit due to urgent need, they will only perform skills they are competent to do and will be assigned with a nurse trained for that unit.

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months
1 reference required from within the last 3 years
Driver’s license required for submission
