Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience worked in the last 3 years.

• 12 months of travel experience is required.

• 3 months of Epic experience is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >80 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: AMN Program - ECU Health (Vidant Health) and no current placement allowed at Program: AMN Program - ECU Health (Vidant Health).

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: - IV insertion. - Knowledge of assisting providers with procedures at bedside. - Float experience does not count towards the unit experience requirement.

Required Credentials: - Upon accepting an offer, you will be assigned Relias exams that must be taken immediately (within 48hrs). If you fail the exam twice, this may result in an immediate cancellation by the facility. - Math and/or dysrhythmia exam required.

Special Requests: - 80 mile radius rule.

Unit Details: - General Med-Surg patients include COPD exacerbation, acute renal failure, sepsis, UTI, pneumonia, syncope, anemia, hip fractures, bowel obstruction, cellulitis, renal failure, dehydration, diabetes, hepatic encephalopathy, stroke, TIA, chronic CHF, PE, and various abdominal surgeries including lap choles, lap appendectomies, hernia repairs, and bowel resections. - Peritoneal dialysis, chest tubes, CBI, bedside I & D, central lines, thoracentesis, paracentesis, wound vacs, Bucks traction, breathing treatments, chest tube set-up/care, CPAP/BiPap, and trach care. - Additional diagnoses/cases include stroke, GI bleed, failure to thrive, hip/ankle fractures, diabetes, non-healing wounds, renal insufficiency, acute kidney injury, comfort care, oncology, post-op care, and recovered cardiac cath patients. - Additional procedures include wound vacs, thoracentesis/paracentesis, chest tubes, incision and debridement, post-op drains, tube feeding, tracheostomy, central line placement, and catheterization (foley & suprapubic). - Common equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omni feeding pumps, SCD machines, IsoAir mattress pumps, T-pumps, AccuChek, vein finder, glucose meter, Welch Allyn vital signs machine, computers on wheels, and Banyan phones. - Patient care delivery system: charge nurse, primary nurse, and NA.

Shift & Scheduling: - No call.

Floating Requirements: - Float to any nursing area, practice as needed and census allowed.

5 days maximum time off. Facility holidays: 10/31/2026, 11/26/2026, 12/24/2026, 12/25/2026, 12/31/2026. Number of holidays allowed off: 1
