Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
Experience:
• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.
• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.
• Experience with Allscripts/Eclipsys is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role may require floating to additional units and locations
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >50 miles from facility to be submitted.
• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Experience with peritoneal dialysis is highly preferred.
Special Requests: Staff is allowed to submit up to 6 requests off per 6-week schedule.
Unit Details: Charge nurse takes a full patient assignment. Clinical assistant is available 40 hours/week, with half the time on the floor taking patients and half in the office. Usually 4-6 CNAs per shift; CNA ratios 1:10-12. Remote telemetry as needed, monitored on a different unit. RNs are not required to read strips; however, if they have strip-reading experience, they can also read them. Drips include heparin; very rare Lasix but not continuous; PCAs with MSO4; occasional Ativan gtt; no cardiac gtts or insulin. Vents include intermittent BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow. Hospitalist, ICU intensivist, residents, IV team, RT, and pharmacy are in-house 24/7. PICC team available. RNs assess IV sites but do not start their own IVs on this unit; the IV team starts all IVs. Uses Pyxis. Common diagnoses/patient population include all ortho post-ops, all basic neuro post-ops (laminectomies, discectomies, spinal fusions), and other general post-ops including gallbladders, mastectomies, and sleeve gastrectomies; infections and medical diagnoses such as COPD, chest pain, pneumonia, and cellulitis. Hemodialysis is on this floor. Patients being tested for COVID usually remain on this unit unless results will take longer, then they transfer to the COVID unit.
Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend (3 weekends out of a 6-week schedule); for nights, weekends are Fri/Sat. Work into the holiday rotation schedule. Schedules are made out for 6 weeks at a time.
Floating Requirements: Float to other Med-Surg and Med-Surg/Oncology units as needed. Could possibly float to IMC but would be assigned Med-Surg overflow only. No gtts.
